Ukraine holding complex talks to rescue all defenders from Azovstal plant – Vereshchuk

Ukrinform
Ukraine is holding complex talks with Russia to rescue all Ukrainian defenders from the Mariupol-based Azovstal plant.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Temporary Occupied Territories Reintegration Minister Iryna Vereshchuk on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The country’s heart now is the Azovstal plant. In addition to the Azov Regiment, there are also the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, Border Guard Service, Security Service of Ukraine, police and territorial defense units. I share the anxiety and agitation of relatives over the fate of the fortress defenders. War is blood and tears. There are no miracles in war. Thus, only a sober and pragmatic approach can work,” Vereshchuk wrote.

In her words, the Ukrainian side received an order from President Volodymyr Zelensky to go above and beyond in order to rescue everyone from the Azovstal plant.

“The team is working. Talks with the enemy are very difficult. The result may not satisfy everyone. But, our task is to rescue our men. All of them. Alive. God willing, we will rescue everyone,” Vereshchuk added.

A reminder that Ukraine is involving many countries, including Israel, Switzerland, Turkey and Finland, in negotiations with Russia to rescue the Ukrainian military from the Mariupol-based Azovstal plant. About 600 seriously wounded fighters are remaining without drugs and medical aid within the plant.
