Russian armed aggression affects 610 children in Ukraine

A total of 217 children have been killed and more than 393 injured in Ukraine since the Russian invasion started.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“More than 610 children in Ukraine have been affected by the Russian armed aggression. As of April 27, 2022, the number of those killed remained unchanged (217 children). The number of those injured increased to more than 393,” the report states.

According to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, these data are not final, as they are being investigated within the areas of hostilities, temporarily occupied and liberated areas.

Currently, most casualties were recorded in Donetsk Region (129), Kyiv Region (114), Kharkiv Region (93), Chernihiv Region (66), Kherson Region (44), Mykolaiv Region (43), Luhansk Region (37), Zaporizhzhia Region (27), Sumy Region (17), the city of Kyiv (16) and Zhytomyr Region (15).

A 9-year-old child was injured in shelling of Mariupol by Russian troops on March 20, 2022, as well as an 8-year-old child on March 23, 2022. Russian invaders took them to the territory of the Russian Federation. Now they have returned to Ukraine and are undergoing treatment at Kyiv-based Ohmatdyt National Specialized Children’s Hospital.

In addition, a total of 1,508 educational institutions were damaged across Ukraine as a result of Russia’s daily air and artillery strikes, and 102 of them were destroyed completely.
