The Russian Federation must be recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism, and its armed forces as a terrorist organization.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an evening address, Ukrinform reports.

“We are also working to ensure that all - I emphasize - all Russian officials who support this shameful war receive a logical sanctions response from the democratic world. Russia must be recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism, and the Russian Armed Forces must be recognized as a terrorist organization,” he said.

Zelensky noted that the European Union is preparing a sixth package of sanctions, and it should be truly painful for the Russian "military machine" and the Russian state as a whole.

"I emphasize in all negotiations that sanctions are needed not as an end in themselves, but as a practical tool to motivate Russia to seek peace," he added.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
