More than 2,800 people evacuated through humanitarian corridors on Apr 10 - Vereshchuk
Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said this, Ukrinform reports.
"A total of 2,824 people have been evacuated today. Through humanitarian corridors from Mariupol and Berdiansk, 2,622 people traveled in their own vehicles and evacuation buses to Zaporizhzhia. Of whom, 213 people are from Mariupol, 2,409 people arrived from the cities of Zaporizhzhia region: Polohy, Vasylivka, Berdiansk and Melitopol. Bus convoys that left Zaporizhzhia this morning to evacuate people from Berdiansk, Tokmak and Enerhodar are being held by the occupying forces at a checkpoint in Vasylivka,” Vereshchuk said.
According to her, for the second day in a row, the Russian Federation has been violating agreements on ensuring the passage of buses to evacuate people from these cities. In any case, the Ukrainian authorities will take efforts to evacuate Ukrainians to safer places.
On April 9, 4,532 civilians were evacuated through humanitarian corridors.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
