Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has called on the countries of the European Union, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom to impose new tough sanctions against Russia and to provide Ukraine with combat aircraft immediately.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, Kuleba took part in an online meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, which was also attended by the foreign ministers of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the NATO Secretary General.

Key topics include a new, fourth level of EU sanctions against Russia for its aggression against Ukraine, war crimes and barbaric attacks that destroy Ukrainian cities and threaten critical infrastructure, including nuclear power plants.

The ministers also discussed embargoes on oil trade, banning Russian ships from entering European ports and refusing foreign ships to enter Russian ports, shutting down new Russian banks from SWIFT, further freezing Russian assets and removing all workarounds to save the Russian economy from the devastating effects of sanctions.

They also raised the issue of immediate provision of combat aircraft to Ukraine to strengthen the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect Ukrainian cities and civilians from barbaric Russian bombing, as well as to continue providing Ukraine with other weapons, including air, anti-missile and anti-tank defense systems.

As was reported earlier, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying infrastructure, massively shelling residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.

Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against Russia tp the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
