Zaporizhzhia NPP being shelled by Russian tanks equipped with thermal imagers - Zelensky

The Russian military has prepared an attack on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), as their tanks shelling the NPP are equipped with thermal imagers.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in his video address, Ukrinform reports.

"Right now Russian tanks are firing upon nuclear units. These tanks are equipped with thermal imagers, which means they know where they are firing, they have been prepared for it," the head of state said.

As Ukrinform reported, overnight into Friday, a fire broke out at Zaporizhzhia NPP after it was shelled by Russia’s heavy weapons. There was a hit on the first power unit. A nuclear threat was declared.

On the first day of a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, February 24, Russian troops seized the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
