Ukraine wants to host UEFA Super Cup in 2024 or 2025 - Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine is interested in hosting the UEFA Super Cup in Ukraine in 2024 or 2025 and a number of other football competitions.

He said this at a meeting with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, the press service of the head of state reported.

"Ukraine successfully co-hosted with Poland the finals of the European Football Championship in 2012 and hosted the UEFA Champions League final in 2018 at a high level. Our country has quite a rich tradition of holding world and European championships in Olympic sports at a high level," Zelensky said.

He stressed that Ukraine was interested in hosting the UEFA Super Cup in 2024 or 2025.

Also, according to Zelensky, the Ukrainian Association of Football is considering submitting bids to host the European Women's Football Championship in 2025, the European Men's Beach Soccer Championship, the European Under-21 Championship, the European Under-17 Championship, the European Futsal Championship, and the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

Zelensky thanked Ceferin for the implementation of projects to develop football infrastructure in Ukraine, noting that UEFA provides support in the implementation of programs for internally displaced children from temporarily occupied territories in eastern Ukraine and from Crimea.

Ceferin arrived in Ukraine on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Ukrainian Association of Football.
