Yaroslava Mahuchikh becomes 2026 world champion in high jump
Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the gold medal at the first World Athletics Ultimate Championship, which is being held in Budapest, Hungary.
Mahuchikh won the high jump competition with a result of 1.99 meters, according to Ukrinform.
Australia's Nicola Olyslagers finished second with 1.95 meters, while Serbia's Angelina Topic and Australia's Eleanor Patterson both cleared 1.91 meters for the third-best result.
Ukrainians Iryna Herashchenko (1.91 meters) and Yuliia Levchenko (1.86 meters) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The Ukrainian team in the Hungarian capital also includes Oleh Doroshchuk (high jump) and Mykhailo Kokhan (hammer throw).
Unlike the traditional World Championships, the World Athletics Ultimate Championship features a limited number of athletes – no more than eight in field events and 16 in track events.
The tournament has a total prize fund of $10 million.
