About fact-checking for journalists and everyone with critical thinking

Simple tools for verifying information from social media

Active social media users have repeatedly asked themselves how to check whether the text of a post has been manipulated or whether a published image is genuine. For journalists, such verification is part of their daily work. The best experts in this sphere are fact-checkers.

Ukrinform publishes the whitepaper "Fact check. Key points for digital research and verification," created as part of a joint project with the German Press Agency dpa - a series of webinars for representatives of Ukrainian media outlets on how to recognize lies and fakes in social networks and media.

This document is for everyone willing to detect fakes due to their profession or to form their own objective picture of the world. In addition to presenting verification tools that are easy to learn and quick to use, the whitepaper gives an opportunity to compare the situation in Germany and Ukraine by examining the views of StopFake fact-checker Artem Laptiiev and dpa verification officer Stefan Voss
