To end war, Trump must stand with Europeans, and China must pressure Russia – Zelensky

Russia's war against Ukraine can end only if the United States and Europe adopt a consolidated position in putting pressure on Putin, along with influence on Russia from China.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in an interview with ARD, Ukrinform reports.

"The war will end when President Trump stands together with the Europeans, and not when the Europeans are without Trump. Otherwise, it will not work. Only America together with the Europeans can put Putin in his place and force him into real negotiations with a result. There can be only one result – a ceasefire. Even if there is no peace treaty, but instead a ceasefire agreement with corresponding steps from the United States and other partners. I mean security guarantees. Then our heroic soldiers will absolutely deservedly return home. And only this way," Zelensky emphasized.

He also stressed that Russia and Putin are not interested in ending the war, and that certain groups within the country support its continuation.

"What can force him? First, President Trump and the United States of America. Second, President of the PRC Xi Jinping. Even if Putin does not want this, I am convinced that these two people can force him," Zelensky said.

In addition, according to him, economic, technological, and sanctions pressure remain effective tools.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the Head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that the Ukrainian delegation raised the issue of a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin during trilateral talks in Geneva. So far, there has been no final response from Russia.
