Umerov discusses strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities with Norwegian FM

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide discussed steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities during a meeting in Kyiv.

Umerov reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

Umerov briefed Eide on the situation at the front and on Russia’s daily shelling of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly energy facilities.

The parties discussed concrete steps to bolster defense capabilities and to coordinate efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.

Umerov expressed gratitude to Norway and to Eide for their consistent financial and security support for Ukraine.

He also thanked Norway for its important decision to allocate a new $400 million aid package, which will be directed toward strengthening the energy sector.

As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed prospects for joint weapons production and other projects in the field of military cooperation with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.
