Zelensky imposes new sanctions against Russia for abduction of children, against shadow fleet vessels
The president announced new sanctions targeting Russian officials and collaborators in temporarily occupied territories who are involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children, as well as 23 vessels of Russia's shadow fleet.
Zelensky stated this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"Today, Ukraine has adopted new sanctions decisions against Russian entities involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children, and against vessels of Russia's shadow fleet," he said.
Zelenskyy added that the first sanctions list includes individuals involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories, the destruction of their identity, and efforts to hide them from their families and from Ukraine.
"Among those sanctioned are functionaries of Russia's state system, collaborationists in the temporarily occupied territories, and propagandists," he added.
According to him, the second sanctions list includes 23 vessels that Moscow uses for oil exports.
"Some of these ships are already subject to sanctions by our partners. We are working to synchronize all our sanctions regimes – partner sanctions in Ukraine and Ukrainian sanctions in partner jurisdictions," the president noted.
He also added that Ukraine is preparing another sanctions package in the near future, which will be particularly significant.
As previously reported, on April 23 the European Union approved a loan to support Ukraine for 2026–2027 and adopted its 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
