Putin orders offensive in Ukraine to continue amid peace talks

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has ordered troops to continue carrying out their “special military operation” in Ukraine. These orders were given after US President Donald Trump said he believed Moscow was committed to ending the war in Ukraine.

This was reported by The Moscow Times, citing statements made by the Russian leader during a meeting with military officials, according to Ukrinform.

After hearing reports from the commanders of Russian troops in Ukraine, Putin ordered his military to continue the offensive operations of the “special military operation” to capture Ukrainian cities and create “buffer zones.”

It is noted that Putin had already set a similar task of creating “buffer zones” for his military in May and November.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 28, speaking at a press conference following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump said that, in his opinion, Putin wants to end the war in Ukraine.

“He [Putin] said it very convincingly, I believe him,” the American president emphasized.
