Trump says he may impose large scale sanctions on Russia until ceasefire

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he is considering imposing large scale sanctions, including banking sanctions and tariffs, against Russia until a ceasefire and a final peace agreement are reached.

As reported by Ukrinform, the American leader wrote this in a post on social media platform X, referencing his own post on Truth Social.

"Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely 'pounding' Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large scale banking sanctions, sanctions, and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and final settlement agreement on peace is reached," Trump wrote.

He also urged Ukraine and Russia to sit down at the negotiating table "right now" before it is "too late."
