Russia, Belarus allow for merging two armies' potential

Russia and Belarus are now considering a situation where they will need to use the entire military potential of the two nations for the sake of security of the Union State.

This was stated by the Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Alexander Fomin, who spoke to the foreign military attaches, Ukrinform reports citing MK.ru.

According to the senior defense official, Moscow and Minsk periodically work out options for applying a regional grouping of troops.

Fomin has warned that a situation could arise when "forces and means of the Regional Grouping will not be sufficient to ensure the security of the Union State."

As a result, it was decided that for the common defense needs, it is necessary to involve the entire military potential.

In addition, the joint exercises of the Russian and Belarusian armed forces, "Allied Resolve 2022," will be held February 10-20. At the drill, Russian and Belarusian troops will work out the tasks of suppressing external aggression and combating terrorism. In particular, this will involve the strengthening of border sections in areas most likely to be penetrated by militants and used to smuggle arms and ammunition into Belarus.

As noted by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, the actions of the rapid response forces of the Union State will be tested in two phases in February 2022. The first one will last until February 9. The joint exercises will be the second stage, the statement adds.
