Draft state budget for 2022 includes UAH 41B for subsidies – PM Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers has envisaged UAH 41 billion for subsidies in the draft state budget for 2022, but if this sum is not enough, the government will ask the Verkhovna Rada to amend the main financial document in order to allocate additional funds.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this during an hour of questions to Government held in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As to the funds for subsidies. UAH 41 billion is planned for next year, which is almost UAH 6 billion more than this year. We expect these funds will be enough, according to the ministry. Correspondingly, if by the end of the year we see that people need more subsidies, then we will take a decision on budget performance over target, adding [funds], as it was last year and this year,” said Shmyhal.

As Ukrinform reported, the state budget for 2021 included  UAH 36 billion for subsidies. More than 33 billion have already been used this year.  According to calculations conducted by the Ministry of Social Policy, another UAH 12 billion will be needed until the end of the year.
