Servant of the People proposes Rada consider package of anti-oligarchic bills this week

The Servant of the People faction in parliament has proposed including a package of anti-oligarchic bills in the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada this week.

According to Ukrinform, the faction's spokeswoman, Yuliia Paliichuk, said this on Telegram.

"The Servant of the People faction does not agree with the agenda proposed by the Verkhovna Rada for the current plenary week and offers its own version to the conciliatory council. It includes a ready-to-consider anti-oligarchic package. These are bills No. 5599 on oligarchs and No. 5600 on payments to the budget," she wrote.

The Servant of the People faction will also propose that the conciliatory council consider and approve the procedure for the article-by-article consideration of these bills.

"As a reminder, according to the Law of Ukraine 'On the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,' proposals on the draft agenda are summarized by the Verkhovna Rada and are then discussed and approved by the conciliatory council," Paliichuk said.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence on September 17 recommended that the parliament adopt at second reading Draft Law No. 5599 "On the Prevention of Threats to National Security Related to Excessive Influence of Persons Who Have Significant Economic or Political Weight in Public Life (Oligarchs)." The Verkhovna Rada approved the bill at first reading on July 1.

Also on September 17, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy recommended that the parliament adopt at second reading Bill No. 5600 "On the Introduction of Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine to Ensure Balanced Budget Revenues." The Verkhovna Rada approved the bill at first reading on July 1.
