Explosion occurs in high-rise building in Odesa; one person injured

On Monday morning in Odesa, an explosion—believed to have been caused by a hand grenade—occurred in one of the apartments of a high-rise building.

According to Ukrinform, the report was made by the Main Department of the National Police in the Odesa region.

“As a result of the explosion, believed to have been caused by a hand grenade, the 48-year-old owner of the apartment sustained injuries. He is currently in the hospital,” the police said.

Police officers, investigators, forensic experts, and police bomb disposal experts are working at the scene. Law enforcement officials have entered information about the incident into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.

As reported by Ukrinform, in Dnipro on the evening of June 5, four patrol officers who had responded to a call regarding a fight were injured in a grenade explosion; the offender was killed.
