Shmyhal: Ukraine may get $10B of additional investments due to land market launch

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said he expects that Ukraine will receive $10 billion of additional investments due to the launch of the agricultural land market.

“The market has actually started its work and I am convinced that within the next year it will have very good prospects, very good development and will give an important impetus to economic development. We expect up to USD 10 billion of additional investment due to the launch of the agricultural land market,” Shmyhal said at the fourth Ukraine Reform Conference in Vilnius on July 8, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that according to the World Bank’s estimates, the lifting of the moratorium on land sales would increase Ukraine's GDP by almost 2%.

The Prime Minister also said that more than 300 land transactions have been conducted in Ukraine since the land market was launched

As reported, on July 1, 2021, the law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on the Circulation of Agricultural Land" enters into force, which abolishes the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land.
