More than 360 Ukrainian producers export their products to UK – Magaletska

More than 360 Ukrainian producers export their products to the United Kingdom, Vladyslava Magaletska, Head of the Ukrainian State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, has said.

“We have already agreed on a list of companies from the Ukrainian and British sides that can carry out export-import operations. In Ukraine, 362 producers are involved in foreign economic activities and export products to the United Kingdom. First, these are dairy farmers, then – chicken meat producers. In addition, these are exporters of fish, honey, wheat and, oddly enough, snails," Magaletska said during the UK-Ukraine agribusiness webinar, “Opportunities for Ukraine to contribute to the UK’s food security,” an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko said that Ukraine received about GBP 3 billion as investments from British agricultural enterprises. "Ukraine is currently the UK's fifth largest supplier and sixth largest partner. Considering Ukraine's position in the global arena, Britain can benefit greatly from this. In the Ukrainian environment, this is about GBP 3 billion - the amount of investment that British agricultural enterprises have brought to Ukraine,” said Prystaiko.

The UK-Ukraine agribusiness webinar was held in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson signed the Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade, and Strategic Partnership in London in October 2020. The agreement came into effect on January 1, 2021.
