First GE locomotives for Ukrzaliznytsia to be put into operation this autumn – Groysman

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that first locomotives manufactured and equipped for Ukraine under the agreement with U.S. multinational conglomerate General Electric will be put into operation this autumn.

“This autumn we will start receiving new rolling stock under the agreement on joint production with General Electric. We have lost a lot (rolling stock) in the occupied territories. But the company is operating and we are moving forward", the Prime Minister said, the government portal reports.

Groysman also stressed that the management of Ukrzaliznytsia is being renewed, as well as shadow schemes are being eliminated.

According to the Prime Minister, “Ukrzaliznytsia was under a cloak of various schemes” but the government started to bring the company out of the crisis and corruption.

As reported, on February 23, 2018, General Electric and Ukrzaliznytsia signed a 15-year framework agreement worth about $1 billion on partnership in the renewal and modernization of the Ukrainian traction rolling stock.
