Ukrainian TPPs halved anthracite coal consumption - Ukrenergo

After the introduction of a state of emergency in the energy sector, Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) reduced the consumption of anthracite coal by two times.

Ukrenergo Acting Director Vsevolod Kovalchuk said this in a video address posted on the company's Facebook page.

"The power system operates in continuous mode. Due to the measures taken by Government, we managed to reduce anthracite fuel consumption by more than a half. When making preliminary calculations, we expected to save 40%. In fact, we spend half has much fuel than we would have spent without introducing the state of emergency,” Kovalchuk said.

He noted that currently anthracite power units at Ukrainian TPPs (apart from the Luhansk TPP) daily use 7-8 million tonnes of coal at the average.
