Ukrainian border guards neutralize nearly 600 invaders over past week

Ukrainian border guards killed nearly 300 Russian troops and wounded approximately the same number over the past week.

Ukrainian State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko announced the figures during a briefing at Ukrinform.

"Using both artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles, border guards are repelling assault groups that are trying to advance toward our forward positions, as well as those reaching the line of our state border. Overall, during the past week, 292 occupiers were eliminated, while another 293 Russian servicemen were wounded," he said.

In addition, 11 Russian soldiers were taken prisoner. According to Demchenko, they were captured in the Kharkiv region.

He stressed that Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to destroy enemy drones.

"Overall, during the past week, 1,730 UAVs used by the enemy were shot down. Nearly 270 of them were Shahed and Gerbera drones. Over the last two days alone – already this month – border guards have downed 140 Shahed and Gerbera drones. Most of them were destroyed in the Chernihiv region," he said.

Demchenko noted that in recent days there has been a particularly noticeable flow of Russian attack drones entering through the Chernihiv region and then flying along the border through the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions toward western Ukraine.

"On some days, we also record border crossings by individual, non-mass aerial assets entering from Belarusian territory," he added.
