No movement of equipment or troops detected near belarussian border – Demchenko
According to Ukrinform, State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko stated this during a television broadcast.
"If we speak specifically about our border line with Belarus, then... as of this moment, we are not observing any movement of equipment, weapons, or personnel in the immediate vicinity of our border, nor any such buildup," Demchenko said.
At the same time, according to him, intelligence data indicates that Russia is actively pressuring Belarus to become more directly involved in the war against Ukraine using its own forces.
"This, of course, poses a greater risk for our country and creates the possibility of a renewed invasion specifically from the territory of Belarus," the State Border Guard Service spokesperson said.
He emphasized that attention should be paid to whether these would be Belarusian units or whether Russia might deploy additional forces to Belarus in order to once again use its territory.
Demchenko also noted that several days ago, two reconnaissance drones were detected near the Belarusian border, flying along the border areas of Zhytomyr and Rivne regions.
"Last night, the entry of one strike unmanned aerial vehicle from the territory of Belarus was also recorded. However, most likely this was a weapon launched by Russia, but its flight trajectory passed through a section of the Belarusian border," the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service added.
As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia has intensified contacts with Alexander Lukashenko in an effort to persuade Belarus to participate in new aggressive operations. In particular, Moscow may be considering an offensive from Belarusian territory toward the Chernihiv region and Kyiv, or even against one of the NATO member states.
