Court orders arrest of teenager who carried out school shooting in Zakarpattia

A court in Uzhhorod has chosen a preventive measure for a teenager who on April 16 carried out a shooting in one of the educational institutions in Chop, Zakarpattia region.

That is according to the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office, Ukrinform reports.

"On the motion of the juvenile prosecutor of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor's Office, the investigating judge of the Uzhhorod City and District Court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect – detention for 60 days without the possibility of bail," the statement said.

The investigation in the case is ongoing, and investigators are examining all possible versions.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, on the m

orning of April 16, a 15-year-old teenager fired several shots from a traumatic pistol in a school in Zakarpattia in the direction of classmates and fled. One of the bullets hit a student in the shoulder.

The shooter was promptly detained, and the weapon was seized.

Law enforcement officers have notified the minor of suspicion of committing an attempted intentional unlawful killing of two or more persons (Part 2 of Article 15, Paragraph 1 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
