Battles intensifying near Kupiansk as Russia trying to regain foothold across Oskil River – military

The situation inside Kupiansk itself is currently relatively calm; however, on its outskirts Russian forces have resumed active assault operations, attempting to push back Ukrainian troops and advance toward the town.

This was reported on television by Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Joint Forces Grouping, Ukrinform reports.

“In Kupiansk itself, there is not much happening at the moment. There is a completely minimal number of Russian servicemen present there, who are essentially being ‘cleared out.’ So, the town itself is fine, but the outskirts of Kupiansk are currently under very active enemy attacks,” he said.

Tregubov also added that Russian forces have renewed activity from the east in an attempt to push Ukrainian Defense Forces off the left bank of the Oskil River, in order to try to enter the town from the north.

“They are constantly trying to push forward there, and they constantly have to be destroyed. In other words, they have not abandoned their intentions regarding Kupiansk; they simply took a serious beating, paused to recover, and then started advancing again,” the spokesperson explained.
