Ukraine’s air defenses down 90 out of 97 drones launched by Russia overnight
Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 90 out of 97 drones launched by Russian forces in attacks on Ukraine starting in the evening of March 14.
According to Ukrinform, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
Starting at 18:00 on Saturday, March 14, Russian forces launched 97 attack drones, including Shahed drones, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of UAVs from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo (in Russia), as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea. Around 70 of the drones were Shahed-type.
The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00 on Sunday, March 15, air defenses had shot down or suppressed 90 drones.
Hits by five attack UAVs were recorded at five locations, while debris from downed drones fell at two other sites.
The attack is still ongoing, with several enemy drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
As Ukrinform previously reported, during the night of March 14 Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 460 Russian aerial targets, including 58 missiles and 402 drones of various types.
