Netherlands plans to provide over EUR 3B in military aid to Ukraine in 2027-2029
The incoming Dutch government, formed by a coalition led by the liberal D66 party, intends to allocate more than EUR 3 billion in military assistance to Ukraine in 2027-2029.
That is according to the coalition agreement, Ukrinform's correspondent in The Hague reports.
Around EUR 3 billion over the next three years will go to military aid for Ukraine, while an additional EUR 400 million will be directed to "other forms of support."
"The war in Ukraine is a matter of security for all of Europe. We will continue to provide military and financial support to Ukraine for several years and will insist on the use of frozen Russian assets. Ukraine is on an irreversible path toward EU and NATO membership, with the pace determined by its own merits and compliance with criteria. The Netherlands provides support wherever possible," the agreement states.
Non-military aid will be funded from the budget allocated for trade cooperation and international development assistance, while the Ministry of Defense will handle military support.
As Ukrinform earlier reported, Dutch journalist and political analyst Hubert Smeets noted that the formation of a minority government in the Netherlands was unlikely to change the country's support for Ukraine, though it could affect the situation of Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands.
