Military intercepts Shahed drone equipped with man-portable air defense system

Fighters of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have intercepted a Russian attack drone equipped with a man-portable air defense system (MANPADS).

According to Ukrinform, the Unmanned Systems Forces reported this on Facebook.

"Fighters of the Darknode Battalion of the 412th Nemesis Brigade intercepted a Russian Shahed equipped with a man-portable air defense system. This enemy UAV was also fitted with a radio modem and a camera, enabling control of the drone from the territory of the Russian Federation and the launch of a missile," the Unmanned Systems Forces said.

The Darknode Battalion crew managed to shoot down the Shahed, which posed a threat to Ukraine's aviation.

An analysis of the enemy's tactics in employing this new type of weapon is ongoing.
