Zelensky: Russia lacks forces to capture Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka by end of April
Russian troops do not have sufficient forces to capture Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka by the end of April, while the situation in the Pokrovsk sector remains difficult but stable.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine, responding to a question from an Ukrinform correspondent.
“This is impossible – they do not have the forces for it at present, so there is nothing to discuss here,” the head of state said.
According to the President, despite unchanged objectives, Russian forces are being forced to postpone the timelines for achieving them.
“They are postponing this goal; it remains unchanged. This agglomeration, frankly, is the same – we see the same footage, just with different dates. They do not have enough forces for this, and they are suffering heavy losses,” Zelensky explained.
He also described the current situation on this front as difficult but under control by Ukrainian forces.
“Very difficult, but stable. It is unfortunately very hard there, but our forces are holding on,” the President concluded.
As reported by Ukrinform, a trilateral meeting on ending the war in Ukraine is expected to take place soon, though its format has not yet been finalized.
