Russian forces may increase activity in Orikhiv sector – Voloshyn

After regrouping, Russian forces may intensify assault operations in the Orikhiv sector, attempting to move as close as possible to the city of Orikhiv.

This was stated by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, in a comment to Ukrinform.

According to him, the current decrease in combat engagements in the Orikhiv sector does not indicate a reduction in enemy activity, but rather points to preparatory actions.

“The fact that there are currently somewhat fewer combat engagements in the Orikhiv sector indicates that regrouping is underway there,” Voloshyn explained.

The spokesperson reported that for almost the entire previous week, Russian forces had been conducting active assault operations toward Stepnohirsk, near Plavni, Prymorske, and Stepove.

According to intelligence data, the enemy is also transferring forces and equipment to forward positions directly near Orikhiv.

“The enemy is moving forces and assets to forward positions near Orikhiv, in particular near Shcherbaky, Mali Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, and Mala Tokmachka. That is, according to our intelligence, there is a visible trend indicating that the adversary may intensify activity near Orikhiv, attempting to get as close as possible to this city,” Voloshyn said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 14, the invaders launched an offensive action in the Orikhiv sector toward Prymorske.
