Power restored for over 100,000 consumers in Odesa region after Russian attack
In the Odesa region, energy workers have restored electricity for over 100,000 consumers who were left without power due to a Russian attack.
That is according to Oleksandr Havva, CEO of JSC Market Operator, Ukrinform reports, citing the Ministry of Energy.
Havva recalled that this past weekend, the Odesa region experienced one of the most massive Russian attacks, with the enemy deliberately targeting electricity distribution and transmission facilities, including Ukrenergo's substations.
The shelling damaged facilities in the energy, transport, industrial, and civilian infrastructure sectors. Emergency repair and restoration work began as soon as the security situation allowed.
An anti-crisis headquarters was deployed to restore and stabilize the energy infrastructure in the southern regions of the country.
"Within 24 hours, energy workers partially restored electricity for critical infrastructure facilities in Odesa and the region. Using backup power schemes, electricity has been returned to almost 100,000 consumers. Heat supply has been restored for over 260,000 consumers. Gas supply in the region is operating normally," Havva said.
Additionally, 763 "points of invincibility" are operational across the region.
Due to temporary disruptions in water supply in certain districts, delivery of drinking and technical water has been organized.
"Our primary task is to restore electricity and heat supply to the population as quickly as possible and ensure the stable operation of critical infrastructure facilities. Energy workers are operating in an intensified mode, taking into account security restrictions, to minimize the consequences of enemy attacks," Havva added.
Earlier, electricity has been partially restored to critical infrastructure facilities in Odesa.
Following the Russian attack on December 13, more than one million consumers were left without power. The most severe situation is in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions.
