Zelensky orders stronger efforts by mobile fire groups

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a rather tough discussion had been held on the operation of mobile fire groups following a coordination meeting on the consequences of a massive Russian attack.

Ukrinform reports that Zelensky wrote about this on Facebook.

“I held a coordination call. Reports were delivered from all regions following a massive Russian strike. The Russians launched more than 400 drones, many of them ‘shaheds’, as well as nearly 40 missiles of various types. Unfortunately, energy facilities have suffered significant damage, which has affected the energy situation across practically the entire country, resulting in major power outages,” Zelensky said.

According to him, this reflects Russia’s overall attitude toward the situation and its true intentions.

“So far, Russia has shown no willingness to end this war in the near future. And both in terms of the frontline and of such massive strikes Russia continues a policy of the actual decimation of Ukraine,” Zelensky emphasized.

He stressed that the Russians deliberately struck, in particular, energy facilities on which the operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants depends, putting at risk not only Ukraine’s security but also the shared regional and European security.

“We believe that partners in America, in Europe, and in other states who want peace must view this with a clear head and act accordingly. Real pressure on Russia is needed so that real changes emerge in their intentions and the overall prospects,” Zelensky said.

During the meeting, the situation with energy supply was discussed in detail for the regions of Ukraine. Necessary forces have been deployed everywhere to deal with the consequences of the strike and carry out restoration work. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is forming additional teams for rapid response work at energy facilities in the western regions.

“A rather tough discussion was held on the operation of mobile fire groups, and in the coming days, regional heads, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine must ensure additional strengthening of the mobile fire group component within the overall protection system of the designated regions. I also expect an expansion of support programs for the people, and the Government of Ukraine has received specific tasks,” Zelensky emphasized.

He added that Ukrainian diplomats must accelerate work with partners on air defense support packages and energy resilience.

As reported, on February 7, Russian forces attacked DTEK thermal power plants in various regions of Ukraine. This was the tenth massive attack on the company’s facilities since October 2025.
