Over 73,000 homes and infrastructure facilities destroyed or damaged in Donetsk region by Russians since 2022
In Donetsk region, Russian forces have destroyed or damaged over 73,000 infrastructure facilities since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Pavlo Uhrovetskyi, Head of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“Russian forces have not stopped shelling civilian sites in the settlements of Donetsk region for a single day. Since 2022, the invaders have completely destroyed or damaged more than 73,000 infrastructure facilities, including more than 57,000 homes belonging to local residents,” the prosecutor said.
He noted that 910 educational institutions have also been destroyed by enemy munitions, and most of them will never again see children attending classes. In addition, 457 attacks on medical facilities have been documented.
“We record every such incident, assessing the damage for further use in national and international judicial and political processes aimed at obtaining compensation from Russia,” Uhrovetskyi emphasized.
He added that the investigation includes relevant documents provided by victims and their representatives, information from local authorities, and expert assessments.
As reported, Donetsk region is under constant shelling by Russian forces; nearly every day the Russians kill and injure civilians, destroy homes, businesses, and energy, gas, and other infrastructure facilities. Donetsk region has the longest stretch of frontline – about 300 km.
