Russian forces intensify assaults in southern Ukraine – military
Over the past week, Russian forces carried out 31 assault operations on Ukrainian positions in the south, most of them along the Orikhiv and Huliaipole directions in Zaporizhzhia region.
This was stated by Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Over the past week, the enemy conducted 31 assault operations along our fronts, most of them in Zaporizhzhia region, specifically along the Orikhiv and Huliaipole directions," he said.
Voloshyn added that over the past two to three days, Russian invaders renewed assault operations along the Huliaipole direction, targeting the areas of Poltavka and Olhivske.
He also noted that, for the first time in a long period, the enemy used light motorized vehicles en masse in assault operations, including buggies, ATVs, and motorcycles.
"The tactic of these assaults is the enemy’s attempt to quickly break into our positions. However, these assaults were unsuccessful. Ukraine’s defense forces destroyed several of these vehicles — more than a dozen in total," the spokesperson explained.
At the same time, he reported that the enemy attempted to launch assault operations toward the settlement of Kopani, but was also unsuccessful.
As reported by Ukrinform, on September 21 there were 156 combat engagements between Ukraine’s defense forces and Russian invaders on the front line.
