President visits command post of 10th Army Corps, presents awards to service members

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the command post of the 10th Army Corps which holds the defense in Melitopol direction.

“Volodymyr Zelensky heard a report from Corps Commander Serhiy Perets on the course and peculiarities of hostilities, as well as the military's needs for weapons and ammunition,” the President’s Office reports.

The President also presented state awards. In particular, Zelensky conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine and presented the Gold Star Order to Major Maksym Zakharchenko, deputy commander of the tank battalion of the 116th separate mechanized brigade, for personal courage and heroism in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, selfless service to the Ukrainian people. Thanks to the Major's skillful actions and command of the subordinate tank units, a large number of enemy equipment and manpower were destroyed, which made it possible to perform combat missions in important areas of the front.

In addition, the Head of State presented the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the II and III degrees and the Orders "For Courage" of the II and III degrees to the military who distinguished themselves in the battles in the Melitopol sector.

“I am honored to be here today, to greet you and award you for your courage, strength and heroism. To thank all those who are side by side with you. I want to wish you strength, not to lose the morale that definitely leads our country and all of us to the most important thing - victory. I wish you to stay safe, and I wish your families and friends to stay strong and healthy. And I wish you only one thing - victory!" the President noted.

All present observed a minute of silence in memory of all the defenders of Ukraine who gave their lives in the fight against Russian aggression.

The Head of State and the service members continued informal communication during the lunch.

"First of all, thank you for your great work. Stay safe! Glory to Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelensky said.

As reported, President Zelensky is on a working trip to Zaporizhzhia region on Tuesday. He visited the locations of brigades conducting offensive operations in Melitopol direction.
