The Netherlands and Belgium will start training the Ukrainian military for minehunters.

Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.

"Today, in the port city Odesa, I announced that the Netherlands intends to provide two minehunters to Ukraine. Belgium and the Netherlands will start training Ukrainian crews for these vessels this year. This initiative will contribute to maritime security in the Black Sea," Ollongren wrote.

She also added that she had witnessed the destruction caused by Russian attacks.

"In the Ukrainian port of Mykolaiv I witnessed the destruction caused by Russian attacks. But also the bravery and strength of the Ukrainian people. Our support helps. It keeps spirits up. It makes a difference," Ollongren said.

Earlier reports said that the Netherlands intends to provide Ukraine with two Alkmaar-class minehunters, starting in 2025.
