SAMS, self-propelled guns create reliable air defense system - Air Force

NASAMS, IRIS-T, Crotale anti-aircraft missile complexes, Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, and other capabilities provided by partners are effectively working toward Ukraine's victory over Russia.

That’s according to Ukraine’s Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk, Ukrinform reports citing the Force’s press service.

According to the commander, "the Air Force continues to defend the Ukrainian state, engaging in anti-aircraft battles, destroying hundreds of targets, including cruise missiles and attack UAVs. Western-made weapons, which our anti-aircraft operators have mastered as quickly as possible and which have already proven effective, play a significant role in combat."

As Oleschuk emphasized, "today's NASAMS, IRIS-T, and Crotale anti-aircraft missile complexes, Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, and other systems provided by partners are effectively working toward our Victory."

"Since September 11, 2022 alone, almost 500 cruise missiles and more than 540 Iranian-made attack drones have been destroyed," the commander noted, adding that Ukraine is “currently waiting to receive the Patriot air defense system."

"Indeed, this number is not sufficient," he emphasized, "but these are the first steps towards creating a reliable, modern, and effective air defense system."

According to Oleschuk, "certainly, receiving from our Western partners a multi-purpose aircraft with a wide range of weapons will immediately affect the course of hostilities, yield quick results in the de-occupation of our territories, and bring our Victory closer."

As Ukrinform reported, preparations for the transfer of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems have already begun. Ukraine expects they will be fielded as soon as possible.
