Belgium was one of the first countries to provide Ukraine with defense weapons and it can inspire all Europeans to do more to help Ukraine fight Russian aggression.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a video address to the Belgian parliament, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Belgium was one of the first to provide defense assistance. This is a historic moment, a historic gratitude, and we will never forget it. You have already warmly received more than 30,000 Ukrainians, who have left their homes because of this war," the Ukrainian president said.

At the same time, Zelensky stressed that Belgium, as the "heart state" of Europe, could inspire all other Europeans to do more to help drive Russian invaders out of Ukraine and restore precious peace.

“A peace that is worth more than anything, than any values, any diamonds. More than any agreements with Russia. More than any vessel in European ports. More than any barrel of Russian oil," the President stressed.

Zelensky called on Europeans to provide Ukraine with weapons, EU membership, impose sanctions on Russia, and then "the future will soon thank us."

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.

The United States, the European Union, and other countries impose sanctions on Russia as an aggressor whose international isolation is growing by the day.
