Kremlin prepares large-scale propaganda campaign in Global South countries, CCD says

Russian state television company RT will hold a festival in more than 15 countries in Asia and Africa to justify the aggression against Ukraine and the crimes of the Russian invaders.

According to Ukrinform, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council reported this on Telegram.

“As part of the festival, documentary films justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine and the crimes of Russian occupiers, cultivating hatred toward Western countries, and promoting Russian influence will be shown in Zambia, Afghanistan, Niger, Pakistan, Tanzania, and other countries,” the statement said.

It is noted that, to spread its influence worldwide, the Kremlin continues to use “Russian houses” (Russian Centres for Science and Culture) under the guise of cultural and educational cooperation.

“The real goal of the Russian Federation's pseudo-cultural events is to expand its geopolitical presence in the Global South, promote its own ideology, and recruit mercenaries for the war against Ukraine,” the CCD said.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Kenyan parliament stated that Russia had recruited more than a thousand citizens of that country to participate in the war against Ukraine, using tourist visa schemes and promises of high salaries.
