Ukrainian polar researchers form chain of unity near Akademik Vernadsky station
Ukrainian polar researchers marked the Day of Unity by forming a chain of unity near the Akademik Vernadsky Research Station in Antarctica.
As reported by Ukrinform, the National Antarctic Scientific Center published a video of the event on Facebook.
“They joined hands once again to remind everyone that our strength lies in unity. Let us remember this in order to prevail,” the post says.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Unity on January 22.
The holiday is observed annually on the anniversary of the proclamation in 1919 of the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic.
The holiday was officially established in 1999, in recognition of the great political and historical significance of the unification of the UPR and the WUPR for the formation of a single, unified Ukrainian state.
