In the territory of Donetsk region controlled by Ukraine, 33 Ukrposhta offices are currently operating – 27 stationary and six mobile – whereas before Russia’s full-scale invasion a total of 304 offices were functioning there.

This was reported to an Ukrinform correspondent by Maksym Sutkovyi, Director of Ukrposhta JSC for Donetsk region.

“We act in accordance with the situation at the front and close offices when the danger becomes imminent so that our employees are not harmed. Therefore, at present 33 offices are operating in Donetsk region, six of them mobile, which travel to areas where there are no stationary offices,” Sutkovyi said.

According to him, six months ago 59 offices were operating in Donetsk region: 48 stationary and 11 mobile. Due to the worsening security situation in recent months, it became necessary to close offices in Lyman, Sviatohirsk, Dobropillia, Biletske, and Bilozerske.

Infrastructure is constantly suffering as a result of enemy shelling. “On December 16, the Kramatorsk-84/302 and Kramatorsk-2 offices were damaged – an explosion shattered windows and doors. Fortunately, there were no employees there at the time. Such incidents happen often,” the director noted.

He also reminded that Ukrposhta follows a “24-hour rule”: after infrastructure is damaged, the company tries to restore operations within a day so that people know services remain available.

Some offices, including those in Kostiantynivka, were completely destroyed, but this occurred when they were no longer operating.

The number of employees has decreased proportionally to the number of offices, but staffing remains sufficient. Offices continue to operate in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Oleksandrivka, Novodonetske, and smaller nearby settlements.

“At present, we have quite strong demand for our services: many pre-New Year parcels, providing payments in goods and services under the winter e-Pidtrymka (e-Support) program, and delivering pensions. So yes, demand for our services is high, and our people are holding the line,” Sutkovyi emphasized.

He added that issues with power supply and heating are being addressed at Ukrposhta offices, and most are equipped with generators.

As reported earlier, as of December 10, 195,600 civilians remained in the Ukrainian-controlled part of Donetsk region.
