Epiphanius to conduct Christmas service in Lavra

Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius will for the first time conduct a Christmas service in the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

This was reported by the press service of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"After receiving the appropriate permission, we inform the faithful and the public that Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Holy Archimandrite of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine will conduct a festive divine liturgy in the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on the occasion of the Nativity of Christ on January 7, 2023,” the report says.

The service begins at 9 o'clock in the morning.

As reported, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine recommended that the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” not to renew the agreement with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate for the lease of the Dormition Cathedral and the Refectory Church in the Upper Lavra, the term of which expired on January 1, 2023.
