Ukraine increases number of PCR tests by 24,000 over past week - Stepanov

Ukraine has increased the number of PCR tests by 24,000 tests during the past week, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.

“We continue to increase the number of PCR tests, which is the main method for diagnosing coronavirus. We conducted 188,349 PCR tests during the past week. This is by 24,000 tests more compared with the week before, when there were 164,929 tests,” Stepanov said at a briefing on September 21, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

He noted that 21,556 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Ukraine during the past week, compared to 18,729 cases reported the week before.

The number of people hospitalized with Covid-19 has also grown. Some 3,740 people have been hospitalized during the past week, 2,920 people - the week before.

As reported, Ukraine confirmed a total of 178,353 COVID-19 cases on September 21, including 2,675 new cases reported over the previous day.
