Section of wall collapses at Khotyn Fortress
A section of the outer wall collapsed at the Khotyn Fortress. No one was injured.
According to Ukrinform, a video of the collapse was posted on one of the local Telegram channels. Later, Khotyn Mayor Andrii Dranchuk confirmed the authenticity of the footage on his Facebook page.
“Yes, unfortunately, this is not artificial intelligence. Yesterday, a very unpleasant and extremely dangerous situation occurred at our beautiful Khotyn Fortress. Yes, there was a partial collapse of the main wall. And this collapse is very significant. Everyone is alive! Most importantly, no one was injured,” the official wrote in his post.
He noted that specialists from the “Khotyn Fortress” Nature Reserve and employees of the State Emergency Service responded promptly and restricted access by tourist groups near the accident site.
According to the mayor, staff are currently documenting the situation and preparing the necessary official documents. The regional military administration, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine have been informed of the incident.
In turn, the city administration will join the effort to secure funding for future restoration work.
As reported by Ukrinform, nearly 48,000 tourists visited the Khotyn Fortress last year.
