Zelensky thanks Italy for humanitarian aid provided to flood-hit regions

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giuseppe Conte for the humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine to overcome the effects of floods in western regions.

He said this during a call on Friday, July 3, the press service of the head of state reported.

"The equipment provided by Italy will help us quickly deal with the effects of the disaster and restore the damaged infrastructure of Ivano-Frankivsk region. I am grateful for your prompt decision and delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine," Zelensky noted.

Giuseppe Conte, in turn, thanked Ukraine for sending Ukrainian doctors to help fight COVID-19 in the Italian Republic.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and Italy in the context of overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

As Ukrinform reported, heavy rains on June 22-24 caused floods in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Ternopil regions. Three people were killed in floods and one more went missing. Hundreds of kilometers of roads, dozens of bridges were destroyed, and hundreds of people were resettled.
