Zelensky, Starmer coordinate positions on weapons and diplomacy

The key topics of the conversation between President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer were weapons and diplomatic steps to bring the end of the war closer.

The head of the Ukrainian state said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"I spoke with Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. We are preparing for negotiations and meetings, and this includes both weapons for our defense and our diplomacy – our joint diplomacy with Europe – to bring the war closer to an end. Europe definitely needs its own voice, its own position, and its own contribution to all diplomatic efforts that can help end the war. We coordinated on how to get there," Zelensky said.

He also expressed gratitude to the British prime minister for the recent sanctions package that will restrict Russian cryptocurrency schemes. According to the President, it is absolutely necessary that all forms of pressure on the aggressor be intensified.

As reported, on May 26 the United Kingdom announced sanctions against Russia-linked cryptocurrency platforms, banks, and financial networks that were used to bypass previously imposed restrictions. In particular, the Kremlin-backed A7 network was targeted. According to the British side, it was used to transfer funds and finance purchases in circumvention of international restrictions. It is claimed that just last year this network transferred more than $90 billion, which is roughly half of Russia's annual military spending.
