Zelensky: Europe must be stronger than single leader with anti-European views
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he hopes the European Union will find a solution to unblock a €90 billion loan for Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, the president made these remarks during a Zoom conference with journalists while in Qatar.
“As for the 90 billion, this issue is relevant, and I am certain that Europe must resolve this matter: no matter who is blocking it, Europe must be stronger than any single leader who holds anti-European views in general,” Zelensky said.
He noted that this issue must be resolved.
“We are talking, let me remind you, about 45 billion for this year as a tranche, of which we expect budget support to amount to roughly 17–18 billion, as well as arms production for Ukraine and procurement, respectively, from Europe or air defense systems from the United States—a total of 28 billion,” the president said.
As reported, Hungary has blocked a 90 billion euro EU loan and the next EU sanctions package; due to its position, negotiation clusters are not being opened. At the same time, Hungary is demanding the resumption of operations on the Druzhba oil pipeline to unblock the loan.
