Ukraine and Qatar signed defense partnership agreement for at least 10 years, says Zelensky
In Doha, President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, agreed to a mutually beneficial defense partnership for at least 10 years.
According to Ukrinform, Zelensky announced this on Facebook.
“We discussed issues that could further strengthen the protection of life in both countries and agreed on a mutually beneficial partnership in the defense sector for at least 10 years,” the president stated.
Following the meeting, the Chiefs of General Staff of Ukraine and Qatar signed an agreement establishing joint defense industry projects, joint ventures, and technological partnerships among companies.
He briefed on the security situation in Ukraine, Russia’s ongoing attacks, and its close cooperation with the Iranian regime.
“Strengthening air defense is a priority for us, and we count on support from our partners,” Zelensky noted.
The President of Ukraine thanked His Highness for the reception, the willingness to work together, and the concrete agreements.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov stated on Telegram that the agreement signed by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Qatar establishes a framework for long-term security-sector cooperation, particularly to counter modern air threats and strengthen defense capabilities.
The document also provides for the development of joint projects, technological cooperation, and the attraction of investments in security solutions.
As reported by Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Qatar on a visit.
