Emirati political scientist on solidarity with Ukraine: We are in same trench
Assistance in countering Iranian drones will strengthen the solidarity of the United Arab Emirates with Ukraine.
This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by Emirati academic and political scientist Abdul Khaleq Abdullah.
“Every Emirati is grateful for and appreciates Ukraine's help. I believe that after this important initiative, solidarity with Ukraine will strengthen. Considering that Russia is helping Iran and Iran is helping Russia, we are in the same trench. We have one common enemy,” he said.
The expert noted the importance of Ukraine's successful experience in countering Iranian Shahed-136 drones, which Russia is using en masse against civilian infrastructure and energy facilities.
“We are grateful to President Zelensky, the Ukrainian people, and Ukraine for their courageous stance and support, which we will never forget,” Abdullah emphasized.
The expert also stressed that Iran's aggression shocked Emirati society, as the Emirates were Iran's “lungs” and “gateway” to the outside world. “I believe that after this, the perception of Iran at the official level and in society will no longer be the same as before. We will never forget this aggression... Now and in the future, Iran is the most dangerous enemy for the UAE and other Arab countries in the Gulf,” said the Emirati political scientist.
Speaking about the challenges of war, he noted that the Emirati government had secured water, food, and medicine reserves for the population. According to him, the UAE “has strategic reserves for at least two years for its own population and other Arab countries in the Gulf.”
As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 12 that Ukrainian specialists are already working in the Middle East, sharing their experience in combating Shaheds, and that partners are satisfied with this cooperation.
